What the world needs now is...Love
What the world needs now is love
As the song goes...
What the world needs now is love, sweet love.
It's the only thing that there's just too little of.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love.
No, not just for some, but for everyone.
The recent tragedy in Connecticut has reminded us there is far too much darkness, hatred and revenge in our world. Our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones in this tragic event... and in the many similar events before it. We hold them in our thoughts and prayers.
Why do these things happen? What can we do to prevent them? One thing is for certain, there are no easy answers. In light of a past Message... “It's better to light one candle than curse the darkness”... perhaps it might be of value to reflect on a few quotes... on LOVE... as we begin our week.
~~Mother Teresa~~ “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
“Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action.”
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
“Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”
~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
~~Mahatma Gandhi~~ “Where there is love there is life.”
~~Joseph Joubert~~ “A part of kindness consists in loving people more that they deserve.”
~~Swedish Proverb~~ “Love me when I least deserve it, because that's when I really need it.”
~~John Lennon~~ “Love is the flower you've got to let grow.”
We may not, as individuals, be able to stop all hatred or remove the darkness, but we can show love to others each day, in many different ways. We can individually, and together, make a positive difference in the lives of many others by showing kindness, thoughtfulness and love. Author of The Rhythm of Life, Matthew Kelly, writes, “People deserve to be cherished. People are a gift. Each person who crosses through your life is a chance to love, a chance to really live. Cherish people.”
Be well!
