The Law of Substitution
Forgive & feel happy.
The Law of Substitution is another natural law referred to by Author Brian Tracy who writes, "Your mind can only hold one thought at a time, positive or negative. You can substitute a positive thought for a negative thought whenever you choose."
Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
We are constantly bombarded with negative thoughts, internally and externally. These thoughts or feelings can make us angry, frustrated or unhappy. You do not want to allow these negative thoughts to linger in your mind; it is important to “cancel” them quickly. You must be prepared to regularly replace negatives with positives. When faced with negative thoughts, turn your mind to gratitude, forgiveness and love.
A negative thought or feeling may be related to a person. If so, forgive them to 'let go' of the negative thought or emotion. Author Tracy recommends you say to yourself, “I forgive him (her) for everything... and I wish him (her) well.” You might also think of the person and simply say, “God bless you.” Your positive thoughts will cancel the negatives.
Practice forgiveness.
It can be difficult when you first begin to practice forgiveness. Just keep practicing! There is a whole new world ahead of you when you learn to let go of negative thoughts, emotions and resentment. Tracy writes,“When you forgive others and let them go, you will begin to feel lighter and happier. As the thoughts of anger and resentment fade away, your mind will fill with positive thoughts. You will have more energy and enthusiasm. You will feel stronger and more confident. Your whole future will open up before you, like a summer sunrise.”
Substitute good for bad, positive for negative... bring positive thoughts and emotions into your life and enjoy the freedom and joy of a new sunrise.
Be positive and be well!
