Seven Steps to Success
Never give up.
Zig Ziglar said "You got to have goals!" Whether we desire better health, improved finances, closer relationships of more job satisfaction, we need to have specific goals to achieve these objectives. We can begin our goal setting by dreaming of the health, relationships, opportunities and successes we want in our lives... and then taking steps to achieve them. Henry David Thoreau wrote, "Have you built your castles in the air? Good, that's where they should be built. Now, go to work and build the foundations under them."
The 7 steps offered here are taken from Brian Tracy's book Change Your Thinking to Change Your Life. Authors Napoleon Hill, Robert Collier and many others have written of the same steps for reaching our goals. Do you want to achieve better health, find a better job, get a promotion, meet new friends, become more productive? Great coaches push practicing the fundamentals. These steps are the fundamentals of goal achievement... fundamentals for changing your life. Follow these proven steps for success in achieving any goal you desire.
Step One: Decide Exactly What You Want
Your goals must be clear and specific. Real goals are measurable and realistic... and they should have a specific date for their achievement.
Step Two: Write Down Your Goals
You intensify your belief and strengthen your conviction when you write your goals on paper.
Step Three: Be Willing to Pay the Price
Write down exactly what you are willing to do to achieve your goal... work a little longer each day, work harder, take some classes, practice to improve your skills, etc. What will you change to achieve your goals?
Step Four: Make a Detailed Plan
Write down everything you think you will need to do to achieve your goal. Prioritize your action list. Add to your list as additional ideas come to you. Setting your plan will cause new ideas to flow to you... and you will begin to see your goal as more and more possible to achieve.
Step Five: Take Action on Your Plan
Take action on your goal immediately. No matter how small the action is initially, do something! Getting started is half the battle to achieving success. Do not wait for the time and situation to be perfect. Do what you can right now! Little steps add up to great strides over time. When you take action toward your goals, you tell yourself and others that you are committed to achieving your goal.
Step Six: Do Something Every Day
Daily action toward your primary goal increases your enthusiasm and energy. You must feel progress toward your goal every day. Each day you actively pursue your goal, you will feel increased commitment and positive expectation of success. Tracy says daily action toward your goal will make you feel "unstoppable"!
Step Seven: Never Give Up
Decide that you will persistently pursue your goal until you have achieved it. Realize that challenges will arise... but that your persistence will overcome any challenges. Your persistence will guarantee your success.
I wish you every success. Step by step you will achieve your goals... and change your life.
Go for it... begin today!
