Rake Leaves Without Breaking Your Back

Rake Leaves the Right Way
  1. Warm up 10 minutes walking around the yard and gently stretching.
  2. Switch the side you’re raking with.
  3. Avoid repeated twisting. Bend at the knees and hips, not the back.
  4. Drink lots of water and wear protective gear such as long pants and gloves.

If you feel soreness or stiffness in your back, use ice to soothe the discomfort. If there's no improvement in two days, schedule an appointment for an evaluation. Our doctors can help.
