In Giving We Receive
In giving we receive.
Saint Francis of Assisi was quoted as saying, “...For it is in giving that we receive. Christmas is a time of giving. Our thoughts and activities during the holiday season are filled with ideas of giving gifts to others. We search for the perfect gifts and wrap them carefully. Giving gifts feels good! We offer donations to Salvation Army volunteers or donate to the Food Bank or give to another worthy cause and that giving feels good as well.
"Give what you have. To someone it may be better than you dare to think."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said, “Give what you have. To someone it may be better than you dare to think.”
Doing something for a person who cannot return the favor is especially uplifting to the giver. Motivational author and speaker, Zig Ziglar says, “What you give will mean much to the recipient, but the feeling you get when you do something for someone who cannot do for themselves is indescribable.”
Scottish Author James Balfour offered the following about giving... “The best thing to give your enemy is forgiveness; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself respect; to all men, charity.”
Giving can improve every part of your life.
Research shows that giving is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Giving can improve every part of your life. All happy people have discovered the secrets of giving. We know in our heart that giving is an important part of our lives. The more you learn to give all year through, without ceasing and without thought of any return, the more your life will change for the better. As author Balfour explains, gifts do not have to be gift-wrapped; you can give your time, your special talents, your undivided attention, your listening ear, your unconditional love, your respect, your compliments and … your service to others.
Nobel Peace prize winner, Dr. Albert Schweitzer said, “I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.”
Give, give give... serve, serve, serve... and your life will change dramatically for the better!
Be well,
