Healthy Halloween: Party Snacks & Halloween Treats
Halloween doesn't have to mean kids with rotten teeth in a candy-coma. We've come up with a variety of healthier treats that can still satisfy the sweet-toothed superman in the family or the neighborhood's picky princess.
One bit of advice:
If you're worried about your healthy treats returning to your house, at least consider offering some stealthier healthier options along with the usual choices.
Scary Snacks for Parties
One of the easiest ways to scare up some healthier snacks is to take some fruits, veggies, nuts or seeds and creatively combine them into a spooky display. Make freaky faces or body parts (eyeballs, fingers, etc.) with these healthy foods to trick your party-goers into better eating. Check out these other ideas:
Seedy Snacks - pumpkin seeds or other nutty treats are a great option. Roast with a little sea salt or spices for a savory treat. For something sweeter, add a touch of honey or pinch of stevia.
Amazing Apples - it is apple season. Offer some old fashioned apple bobbing or slice them up and drizzle some dark chocolate with nuts. Unprocessed local apple cider is a delicious holiday treat.
Pumpkin Please - whip up some pumpkin pie, cookies, or cake for a tasty treat that you can make with a small amount of sweeteners (honey, stevia, maple syrup)
Nutbutter Bites - almond butter, cashew butter, and other nut butters are an even better choice than peanut butter (though peanut butter is of course healthier than junk food). Turn your favorite nut butter into some bite-size balls. Add a touch of honey or cinnamon.
Spiced apple cider
Banana boos & orange pumpkins
Carrot fingers with seedy nails

Pumped-Up Popcorn - cook up some popcorn in a little coconut oil and add some spices or dark chocolate for a fun flavor.
